Statement regarding the fire affecting Aboiteau Fisheries

CAP-ACADIE, NB, January 7, 2024 – The Cap-Acadie Chamber of Commerce has just learned that a fire is currently affecting Aboiteau Fisheries located in the Cap-Pelé area of the Regional Town of Cap-Acadie. The fire reportedly began early this morning.

Aboiteau Fisheries was home to one of the region’s leading restaurants at the height of the tourist season Aboiteau Wharf, offering fresh seafood, shellfish, and fish of all varieties. Popular with visitors and locals for years, the business was considered a Cap-Acadie institution.

“We are devastated by yet another fire impacting another business in the region. Although we don’t yet know the circumstances that led to the fire, we’d like to show our solidarity with the owners and the team,” says Natalie Cormier, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Cap-Acadie Chamber of Commerce.

“My heart goes out to the Aboiteau Fisheries team. We offer support, when needed, to guide business owners to the right resources to overcome this difficult obstacle,” adds Cap-Acadie Chamber of Commerce CEO Anthony Azard.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the local fire departments and first responders who responded so quickly to the call.
