The Cap-Acadie Chamber of Commerce celebrates an exceptional 2023-2024 and looks forward to new challenges

CAP-ACADIE, NB, October 29, 2024 – Building on its commitment to its members, the Cap-Acadie Chamber of Commerce held its 31st Annual General Meeting last night at Fred’s Restaurant, located in the Cap-Pelé area of the Regional Town of Cap-Acadie. The event provided an opportunity to look back on a year marked by the Chamber’s affirmation as a leader within the Chamber of Commerce network, while defending the voice of Cap-Acadie’s business community.

The Board of Directors, re-elected in a spirit of continuity, will once again be chaired by Natalie Cormier (Able Canvas). She will be joined by Marie-Line Beauregard Gallant (Beauregard) as vice-chair, Courtney Wilson (Happy Hour Club) as secretary, and Louis Léger (Moncton Fish Market) as treasurer, thus ensuring the stability of the executive of the Cap-Acadie Chamber of Commerce.

In addition, the following directors join the Board: Angèle Losier (CAFi), Lise Boudreau (Restaurant À la Dune), Sonia LeBlanc (Fête in Style Decor), Gilles Bélanger (Bélanger Électrique), and Hector Doiron (Logis-Tech-Homes). Newly-appointed Jean-Philippe Olivier, Executive Director of La Résidence Castel des Flots Bleus in Cap-Pelé, reinforces this team. One position remains vacant and will be filled by an appointment in the coming weeks, in accordance with the organization’s by-laws and regulations.

“It’s a privilege to continue my role as Chairwoman of the Board, surrounded by a dedicated team committed to the success of our Chamber and its members. Together, we enter this new year with a strong vision and a desire to ensure the prosperity of our business community. The upcoming 2025-2030 strategic plan will be an opportunity to chart an ambitious course and strengthen our position as an economic leader within Cap-Acadie,” says Natalie Cormier, President of the Board of Directors of the Cap-Acadie Chamber of Commerce.

The Board of Directors will be meeting shortly to set priorities for the coming year and begin discussions on the 2025-2030 strategic plan.

On another note, the financial results for 2023-2024 show an exceptional performance. Adjusted for HST, revenues for the year totalled $315,111, a 90% increase on the $165,982 recorded the previous year. Expenses have also risen, from $172,771 in 2022-2023 to $305,744 in 2023-2024, due to the expansion of activities and strategic investments.

Rigorous financial management has made it possible both to offset the deficits of the previous two years, and to reinforce the Chamber’s financial strength. Investments in new branding and events have helped position the Cap-Acadie Chamber of Commerce as a key player in local economic development.

With nearly 200 members, the Cap-Acadie Chamber of Commerce pursues its mission to promote and develop local businesses, offering them adapted services and defending their interests with governments and partners. These financial results testify to the organization’s commitment and rigour in fulfilling its mission.
