SamChloZo Inc. is the Business of the Year in Cap-Acadie: five other recipients receive Barachois

SAINT-ANDRÉ LEBLANC, NB., November 18, 2022 — After two years of absence due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was a return to normal for the recognition evening of the Cap-Acadie Chamber of Commerce held last night, November 17 at the Saint-André LeBlanc Centre.

Pierre LeBlanc’s SamChloZo Inc. won the top honour for the 2022 edition. Mr. LeBlanc stood out for his resilience and his strength in residential and commercial development in the region.

“Having a pillar like Pierre LeBlanc in the business world is no small feat. Mr. LeBlanc works tirelessly 7 days a week, continues to develop despite the obstacles that may get in his way, he goes forward again and again. It is a well-deserved honour.” says Natalie Cormier, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Cap-Acadie Chamber of Commerce.

Anything but ordinary, this edition of the recognition evening was unlike previous editions, starting with the name of the gala and its trophies. To celebrate the 15th edition, the CCCAcadie team has decided to revise its gala completely. The CCCAcadie has decided to award the Barachois, wave-shaped trophies characterizing the many barachois in the region.

“Our goal is simple, that our members feel privileged to win a Barachois! The AAAPNB has its Éloizes, Quebec television has the Gémeaux, the American cinema community has the Oscars. On our side, we decided that it was Les Barachois.” enthused Anthony Azard, CEO of the Cap-Acadie Chamber of Commerce.

The 16th edition of the Les Barachois gala will be presented on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at the Saint-André-LeBlanc Centre.

The Cap-Acadie Chamber of Commerce recognizes that we are in Cap-Acadie, or in Epegoitnag, in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and traditional lands of the Mi’kmaq people.

This territory is covered by the “Treaties of Peace and Friendship” which these nations first signed with the British Crown in 1726. The treaties did not deal with the surrender of lands and resources, but in fact recognized Mi’kmaq and Wolastoqiyik title and established the rules for what was to be an ongoing relationship between nations.

We, the staff and members of the board, pay respect to the elders, past and present, and descendants of this land. We honour the knowledge keepers and seek their guidance as we strive to develop closer relationships with the Indigenous people in New Brunswick.
