Cap-Acadie Chamber of Commerce is cancelling Escapade Cap-Acadie

CAP-ACADIE, NB, May 17, 2024 — Following extensive efforts, Escapade Cap-Acadie, the gastronomic festival scheduled for July 18 to 20, 2024, at Aboiteau Beach has been cancelled.

Originally planned for September 14 to 16, 2023, the gastronomic festival was rescheduled a week prior to the event because of the threats associated with Hurricane Lee in the area. Subsequently, the board of directors opted to reschedule this inaugural edition to take place from July 18 to 20, 2024.

The labour shortage, available resources, and busy summer season for suppliers in this industry present a challenge for the Cap-Acadie Chamber of Commerce to secure all essential resources for organizing its inaugural festival, particularly in rural areas.

“We endeavoured to provide an event of exceptional quality for a magnificent experience in Cap-Acadie, exploring every possible scenario. Nevertheless, economic considerations dictate that the Escapade Cap-Acadie cannot proceed at this time,” stated CEO Anthony Azard.

Since April 2024, the team has reached out to corporate partners to reimburse their contributions. Refunds for all ticket holders will commence on Monday, June 3, 2024.

  • Online purchases — Ticket holders will automatically receive refunds through the Eventbrite platform. They will be notified via email with instructions.
  • In-person purchases — individuals can contact info@cccacadie.ca to obtain guidance.

Mr. Azard concluded by expressing sincere gratitude to the members, residents, and visitors who have demonstrated a significant interest in Escapade Cap-Acadie. He noted that their support has been duly recognized.

A strategic plan guiding the organization’s sustainable growth.

The Cap-Acadie Chamber of Commerce is currently finalizing its inaugural strategic plan. Implemented in 2021, this plan aimed to enhance the organization’s internal capabilities through increased operational transparency and substantial enhancements in Chamber promotion and marketing.

“Our upcoming strategic plan will focus on the organization’s growth. Despite recent years witnessing heightened growth in our operations, the organization must embrace a new plan to guarantee sustainable growth,” stated Natalie Cormier, the Chair of the Board of Directors.

The Cap-Acadie Chamber of Commerce will review its upcoming 2025-2028 strategic plan starting in Fall 2024.
